A NEW CLASS OF EFFICIENCY: FIVE FACTS ABOUT THE FEC40

The FEC40 is the first capsule filling machine by Fette Compacting. How does the technology perform and what advantages does it offer the user? Five facts for increased productivity.

1. DOUBLE OUTPUT

The FEC40 applies the Duplex Concept by Fette Compacting. Process steps that until now had been kept separate have been combined so that free stations are used to arrange the capsule filling process twofold in the machine. This enables an output quantity of up to 400,000 capsules an hour to be achieved.

2. BEST IN BATCH-TO-BATCH

The tamping pin stations are removed by using an expansion system. Thus, they can be dismantled and cleaned outside the FEC40. The patented system thereby simplifies the product changeover and cleaning. After a product changeover, the FEC40 is then quickly ready for operation without the need for any additional mechanical adjustments. The servo drives are automatically referenced based on the parameters saved in the formulations.

3. FLEXIBLE SET-UP

Every movement is generated by servo and torque motors and controlled completely electronically. The intelligent drive and control technology give the user full control of all process steps, thus enabling him or her to optimize them over time. This also makes it possible to change previously coupled process times separately and to significantly reduce the overall passage time.

4. TRI.EASY DESIGN

Fette Compacting's TRI.EASY design philosophy guarantees enormous handling benefits. The FEC40 guarantees 360° access even when process equipment is connected, so that all stations are optimally accessible and visible to the operator. All surfaces in the process chamber, as well as the shrouding of the machine, are designed for ease of cleaning.

5. INTUITIVE USE

The FEC40 is extremely easy to use. The newly developed human-machine-interface (HMI) helps the user by means of a graphically intuitive user display. This guarantees a full overview of the relevant process and quality parameters at all times. The machine is controlled via a 19" touchscreen and an integrated keyboard. All formulations, including the process parameters, are stored in the database of the FEC40. During production, the filling levels of the capsule and product containers are measured continuously and processed in the control unit. Furthermore, any and all batches are monitored, recorded and saved.
