Besides EU and TSM formats Fette Compacting offers FS® punches. As an alternative, these punches offer longer tool lives and even smoother running. There is now a link between these two, formerly separate, "format worlds": Fette Compacting introduces the EU 19 FS® as a new generation of punches at the trade fair "components", which accompanies the interpack in Düsseldorf.
EU and TSM formats are established punch standards for tableting tools. For years, manufacturers have been using the patented FS® format from Fette Compacting as an alternative, since it provides longer tool lives and pressure dwell times as well as smoother running. Until now, the EU and FS® formats were not, however, mechanically interchangeable. Users had to decide in favour of one format or the other.
Valued advantages - easy conversion
These "two worlds" have now become one: with the patented format of the EU19 FS®, developers at Fette Compacting have successfully transferred the FS® structure to the standard tool structure. An EU19 punch can now be replaced one-to-one by the EU19 FS® punch. All existing cams can continue to be used, and the process properties remain the same. The change, nevertheless, has significant effects: the life of the punch rises, the punch head is stressed more evenly, and its maximum loading capacity increases.
Innovative mirror surface geometry
The approved service life of the EU19 FS® is a result of a special punch head geometry, which differs from the EU19 through innovative features: the transition between the run-in area and the plane mirror surface follows a fourth-order polynomial function - an important further development of the FS® technology. This leads to lower stresses on entering the plane mirror surface. Furthermore Fette Compacting has introduced an additional depression in the central head area. As a result, the contact conditions between the pressure roller and the mirror surface as well as the stability of the punch structure are both improved.
The right tool for every application
On the occasion of this innovation, Fette Compacting presents the tableting tools with an individual booth at the interpack in Düsseldorf. Experts from the Business Unit Tableting Tools at Fette Compacting are available in hall 18, booth C19 - to help find the best possible options for any particular application. The business unit produces punches, dies and segments in a customized interaction between shape, material and coating. Besides other services, it also provides calculations of maximum pressing force, materials and FDA certificates, general pressing trials for optimum parameters and for the right selection of tool and coating.
