Pharmaceutical production can benefit in many ways from continuous manufacturing: integrated processes, shorter production times, more flexible production, and more. In the case of continuous tablet production, technological solutions have matured significantly in recent years. One decisive factor for this success is the fact that the tablet press can be optimally integrated in the process as a whole. On the other hand, quality and efficiency are essentially dependent on the appropriate process analytical technology.

Companies that want to produce efficiently are increasingly requiring an overview of all manufacturing technologies and processes. In the area of tableting, for example, tableting tools make an essential contribution to overall performance, along with tablet presses. Accordingly, high-quality punches, segments and dies are required for the manufacture of equally high-quality tablets. To ensure that these tools remain in top condition at all times, experts have developed a comprehensive hygiene system. It represents an overall solution for safe and efficient handling of tableting tools.

The 1200i was one of the most successful tablet presses in the history of Fette Compacting. The last model is now being commissioned in Malaysia. But Fette Compacting already has a machine on the market which is every bit a match for its successor: the F10i.

The advantages of continuous manufacturing compared to batch production are wellknown: increased process reliability and efficiency through integrated processes, leaner process development, and more flexible production. Yet many pharmaceutical manufacturers are still hesitant. Dr. Marten Klukkert, Manager Technology Center and Pharmacist at Fette Compacting, explains these reservations and how to counteract them.
